Passionate About Rental

Is your game plan to win or just survive?

With the publication of the RER Top 100 this month, and the IRN Top 100 to follow in June its easy to get so caught up in the numbers that you lose sight of the business picture. The headline figures revolve around the same basic principles: Utilization, Fleet Age, Volume and Rates but if every company in the Top 100 approached these the same way, there wouldn’t be any competition or differentiation between vendors.

So how can you identify the key differentiators that make your business one that customers prefer to trade with, and more importantly keep trading with?

We’ve recently introduced a new feature into the software to allow you to send customer surveys by email to your customers to track their opinions of your deliveries and pick-ups, new products and your general level of customer service. This aims to close that last gap between what you know ( from your internal systems) and what your customers know (based on personal experience!).

Knowing what your customers think is only the first step though, to react to that information your business has to be flexible enough to change rapidly, implement new procedures where necessary and make sure your teams adhere to those procedures.

rentalresult has always supported flexibility in the software – its easy to change flags and settings to change workflow, mandatory or optional fields, user view etc, but it’s always hard to make sure that everyone buys into and understands your changes. Talking to our customers, we understand that is one of the biggest issues with making rapid change happen. So to help you get over that hurdle we’ve introduced some additional features…

  • The first is an information feed which goes direct to every user on your system. When they switch on their computer in the morning they’ll get an instant web page, embedded within the application launcher (ie they can’t avoid it!) that tells them what the changed procedure is.
  • The second is the ability to add Podcasts, video stream and other movie options so that you can tell them about the change verbally as well as visually – a broadcast from the top, is a lot more effective than a memo!
  • The third is a whole range of new embedded dashboards which will keep track of performance against the procedural change.

We’d really like to add more features to help you to implement software and process changes across your organization. If you have some ideas about what would help you, please let us know by using the comments link below.
